Helping you SPARKLE, SHIMMER & SHINE!

Geometric Glamour

What is it about statement geometric jewelry, encased in gold and diamonds, shaped in the form of spheres, pyramids, and cubes which we find so alluring today?

Fun jewelry pieces with geometric flair are my current inspiration and a look standard throughout the fashion world right now. Geometric jewelry is the best way to accessorize a clean, futuristic and minimalist look. Geometric shapes are also the perfect way to futurize and update your jewelry wardrobe, with sheer elegance all while staying with a very right- now, wearable attitude.Wearing the most simple piece of geometric jewelry can update the look of the most antique estate jewelry pieces. I always love to have fun mixing and matching pieces of jewelry from the past and the present. Layering and mixing various pieces of clothing and jewelry is going to continue being hot for all of 2015.

Geometric gems make the transition from day to night perfectly simple. Wear your geometric jewelry with your pantsuit in the boardroom and the same piece transitions easily with your favorite cocktail dress on Saturday night. For the Lady looking for a bit of versatility, geometric jewelry pieces are key. On the days when you feel the need for a simple bit of sparkle, a smaller geometric jewelry piece is the perfect wardrobe accent.

I love the look of Art Deco jewelry from the 1920’s era; I was so happy to see a resurgence of this when Baz Luhrman’s “The Great Gatsby” film was released in 2013.

There is always something so exciting about breaking the rules.

Especially design rules.

And, I feel that this is precisely what glamorous geometric jewelry does- twists and bends the rules in sightlines, wearability and what it means to be elegantly styled and all out modernly fabulous at the same time. Diamonds in funky and fantastical patterns are just fun to wear. I once read that: “in order to break the rules, one must first master them”.

So, if you’re sick of following the regular old jewelry rules, there’s only one thing left to do...

Here are a few of our favorite Geometric Glam rule breakers:

Amanda Jaron Featured in The Journal

Amanda Jaron’s mission “To create red carpet moments for everyday women, celebrities and fashionistas,” is right on track. Jaron describes her business, A. Jaron Fine Jewelry Design Studio, as “A little piece of Soho in paradise.”

Opened in 2010 with upscale pieces that echo the area’s relaxed resort lifestyle, Jaron’s pieces have been featured in Oprah’s magazine and worn by celebrities like Rachael Ray, Sharon Stone and Kelly Ripa.

And, besides basic retail store services like repair, appraisals, resizing prongs and using special shanks that allow changes in finger sizes, the studio is much more.

A vivacious and wildly creative businesswoman, Jaron has single-handedly reinvented the concept of shopping for fine jewelry that is definitely out of the box. Unlike the ordinary jewelry store shopping experience, Jaron offers the public a chance to participate in the creative process of crafting fine pieces.

In her signature service, Bling Over, she and her customer engage in a cooperative effort using pieces that hold sentimental value and memories but may be outdated. She takes into consideration their personal taste, and from concept to design, Jaron reinvents and creates a finished, new piece.

And, there’s more. Jaron, who exudes joie de vivre sat down with us and explained her business model; this gal is loaded with ideas.

How did you become interested in the field?
I have always been an artist at heart. My mother enrolled me in an adult education jewelry class in metal smiting at age 13. Even though young, I fit in and realized ‘why make sculptures out of clay when you could use gold and diamonds as materials that were more coveted and long lasting?’

What materials do you work with and what is your price range?
I work with fine jewelry made with 18-carat gold and precious gems like diamonds to more accessible pieces using sterling silver and semiprecious stones in nature’s many colors. Just as an artist’s palette is always evolving, so too does my array of gemstones, from the purple-hued tanzanite and iolite, to turquoise and more. I have been on the Home Shopping Network with sterling silver pieces from $300 to $1,200 and see that with a variety of price points my business thrives year-round. I have pieces priced at $20 for a Lucite lapel pin to those priced at the sky’s limit. No one is making a commission, so mine is a welcoming studio and non-intimidating. There is something for everyone at all price points.

Tell us about your jewelry makeover service, Bling Overs?
Doing Bling Overs is my passion, and I love doing them and being able to tap into my creative side. So many women in this town have great jewelry collections accumulated over the years — some, treasured heirlooms. Carefully listening to their vision and back stories on each piece, we co-create and reinvent a new piece that still holds a memory. Bling Overs start at as little at $99 depending on the depth of the project.

Do you host jewelry-making classes?
Yes, I hold Sip and Sparkle Girls Night Out jewelry classes for seven to ten people at $40 per person. In a guided class setting, I provide jewelry supplies such as glass beads, and attendees can upgrade to other materials, if they wish. I serve Champagne and chocolates and we have a great time. Each guest will leave the studio with their own one-of-a-kind creation.

Tell us about the Glitter Foundation?
As a jewelry designer, I have spent my life listening to the stories told by my clients of how they acquired their jewelry collection and/or to whom they intend to leave it. Through those stories, I realized that I was creating jewelry that are more than just a mere token of one’s wealth; it’s a legacy of one’s life. These stories inspired me to create a foundation that is committed to honoring the “sparkle” of the past through grants, the “shimmer” of the present with mentors and the “shine” of a brilliant future with scholarships. In 2013, I started the Glitter Foundation for providing art education and therapy for Southwest Florida children in need.

Do you support other local causes or organizations?
Yes, I also work in Lucite and have sold hundreds of pieces like pink ribbon cuffs retailed at $25. The cuffs have been featured fundraising items for the Cleveland Clinic, the Lymphoma Society and the American Heart Association Go Red for Women campaign. I am also a supporter of the David Lawrence Center, the Cancer Alliance of Naples, PACE Center for Girls, and I donate jewelry to other nonprofits. I am donating five golden apples for Champions for Learning of Collier’s Golden Apple Awards. I am also doing a gold and diamond apple ring for a live auction that retails at $7500.

Have we got some words for you!

“Sophia” “Emma” “Olivia” “Ava” “Isabella” “Chloe” “Addison” “Natalie” “Mila” “Savannah” “Violet” “Stella” “Amour” “Namaste” and “Amanda”

This Bracelet has your name on it.

As a very busy lady, there are very few things i never leave home without. Sunglasses (I do live in Florida), my regular glasses (i can’t legally drive without them), a different tube of lipstick for each mood I may encounter during the day, high heels, my wallet, car keys, and now my absolute favorite piece of jewelry. My custom made- one of a kind- “Amanda” cuff bracelet featuring my name written perfectly in high-polish sterling silver cursive.
I have never had anything so highly personal and it was created just for me.

Is it wrong to love something just because it has your name on it? Definitely not! If anything, seeing your own name on a piece will only make you love it more. Many couples have a special inscription on the inside of their wedding bands, something that marks a special moment or even an inside joke or code word that is spoken only between the two loves. The intrigue comes with the fact that those two people know that no other couple in the world has exactly the same inscription on the inside of their rings.

Love is spelled “personalization” for women and there is nothing more personal than a piece of fine jewelry for your loved one to wear every single day- bearing her name. A name-sake piece is bound to become as essential and personal as the lady’s handbag.

Or, you could always go the Zsa Zsa Gabor route in which she stated: “I don’t remember anybody’s name. How do you think the ‘Dahling’ thing got started?” Give everyone the opportunity to never forget YOUR name- put it on your wrist in gold or silver. Trust us, it will come in handy. Especially if you meet a hollywood legend.

Marsala Madness

Marsala Madness

http://deluxmag.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/body_5_3.jpg

Prepare for the rush of a whole new color wave coming soon. There will be Marsala Madness in 2015!

Marsala is a vast shift from the vivid, cartoon-like colors prevalent in past years, such as the vivid orange-red of tangerine tango, the regal green of bright emerald and the fun and feminine violet of radiant orchid. Marsala shifts the color spectrum to the earth with rich brown undertones found within this particular shade of red.  Marsala is a drastic change in direction from hues which could easily be found within the nearest rainbow; fashion and design are now flexing their focus down to a color which could easily be found in soil.

But why did Pantone choose Marsala? Executive director Leatrice Eiseman said, "We felt it was time for something that spoke to people's real needs—the need of nurturing, the need for something more robust that had a life force that was intrinsic to it. The most interesting thing about Marsala, I think, is that even though it has this grounded influence, this earthy undertone we see in the wine-red, at the same time, it has this sophistication. There is something very versatile about the color."

Also, with the return of 90’s grunge as viewed on recent runways, marsala is on repeat circling around the fashion orbitals once again. The deep hue was quite prominent in the 70’s, saw a return in the 90’s (along with a few bits of 70’s fashion) and it has now reappeared for 2015 hopefully for it’s most notable and elegant go-round. One of my favorite things about this hot hue is that marsala is easily wearable for almost any coloring, in dresses, pants, skirts, nail lacquer, eyeshadow, shoes, handbags and of course, lipstick. I’ve even heard of high-level fashionistas using marsala as an alternative to brown leather pieces (shoes, watches, belts, and clutches) providing an ultra updated look for the new year. Marsala can be utilized as the more-chic and more-daring step-sister to classic brown leather.

I know the most important question looming: what jewelry is a Lady to wear with this new hue- marsala? How do we sparkle up such an earthy red tone?

There are always the matchy-matchy options of garnet, spinel, ruby, rubellite, and morganite.

Or you can have some colorful flair with a few contrasting features with stunning gemstones like sapphire, emerald, blue topaz, london blue topaz, black diamonds, citrine, carnelian, labradorite and smoky topaz.

Allow me to suggest a few of my personal favorites to wear with marsala:

For just a bit of contrast, I love this peridot and blue topaz ring: http://ajaron.com/products/peridot-blue-topaz-diamond-yellow-gold-ring

If you like a bit more matching: http://ajaron.com/products/pearl-ruby-diamond-drop-earring

A lively carnelian necklace for some contrast: http://ajaron.com/products/large-square-carnelian-pendant-gold-necklace

A beautiful, yellow gold woven bracelet that blends well with anything and everything: http://ajaron.com/products/yellow-gold-chalcedony-charm-bracelet

A stunning cigar band ring with some heart: http://ajaron.com/products/heart-garnet-diamond-wide-band-ring

The perfect necklace for those golden and smoky brown undertones: http://ajaron.com/products/oval-smoky-topaz-iolite-pendant-gold-necklace

How do you plan to rock and sparkle with the 2015 Marsala trend?

A.JARON Loves Labradorite

Labradorite is the one semi-precious stone that will have you at “hello”.
Labradorite entices because it is so subtle and so luminous at the same time.

A true natural wonder, labradorite is the one stone can exhibit hues of bright aqua, golden yellow, peacock blue, reddish orange, vivid greens and red all at the same time. The hues found in labradorite remind me of a mood ring; ever-changing flickers and flashes of an array of colors with every turn of the stone.

Labradorite is so fascinating and alluring with an elegant sophisticated ease. The enjoyment lies in the fact that it holds an ultra- glamorous secret which stays below the radar. You must look closely at labradorite to see it’s true colors- they won’t blind you from across the room, like a 10 carat diamond. In this way Labradorite is a seductive mystery stone, because you have no choice but to take a closer look.

The meaning of labradorite has historically been to supply the wearer with good fortune. It is believed by mystics that if Labradorite is worn as a pendant, the wearer will maintain a healthy body and obtain good fortune in all relationships.

But I find it perfectly alright to adore the stone because it is so stunningly captivating. The name labradorite comes from the location where the stone was initially found, on Paul’s Island, near the town of Nain in Labrador, Canada. Labradorite has also been reported to be mined in Norway and Madagascar; the stone can also be found in India, Russia and Newfoundland. Legend claims that the northern lights were trapped in the rocks along the coasts of Labrador. A drifting Eskimo warrior found these rocks and freed the lights with his spear. However, it is believed that many of these lights are still trapped within the stone today.

If you are seeking an update to your current winter jewelry wardrobe, the look of labradorite is excellent for the cooler winter months. Shimmering yet still understated, labradorite can be worn as a perfect compliment to any array of forrest green, mauve, brown, taupe, beige, black, sienna, purple, teal, indigo, blue, cinnamon, oxblood, pumpkin and now, the 2015 color of the year- marsala. Due to the labradoressence (yes, that is an actual term) in labradorite, jewelry made with the stone can be worn with just about every color imaginable.

May we suggest the following A.JARON creations:

To be completely fascinated- go find some labradorite immediately and if you don’t know where you can find a few pieces of this gorgeous stone- there are plenty at A.JARON Studio. Come see for yourself!
